This is the third community forum in an ongoing dialogue with the diverse residents, artists, and activists fighting for their right to live, work, and create in The East Village and Lower East Side. This third session features a play built by East Village seniors, based on their own stories!

East Village Stories unites residents, local artists, and the La MaMa and FABnyc community for original, interactive theatre and dialogue about the past and the future of the East Village. La MaMa is exploring how audiences and artists of the next generation interact and engage with art in its community. To understand what a creative community space could look like, La MaMa invites community leaders and artists to East Village Stories, a creative workshop facilitated by Theatre of the Oppressed and in collaboration with Fourth Arts Block.

Sign up! You are a part of this tradition. Tell your East Village story!

If you are a senior member of the East Village community and you are interested in working with Theatre of the Oppressed NYC artists to build and perform a short play in just one day, based on the real stories and needs of East Village community members (from 1pm-5pm), please contact Niki Afsar: niki@lamama.org or call (212)-254-6468. Space is limited.

Have you called the East Village home long enough to see some things change, some things stay the same?

Do you love arts and culture of the neighborhood?

Want to tell your East Village story on the stage at La MaMa ETC?

Come together with neighbors and friends to dream up – and rehearse for – the future we want to see in the East Village!
