La MaMa Kids: Malaysian Folk Tales
February 23, 2013 at 11am
Jane Catherine Shaw & Rebecca Leigh Silverman
Three popular recurring characters and their stories are interwoven to make one exciting piece of theater for young audiences. Throughout the story, traditional and authentic Malaysian music is played, and audiences will hear the sounds of native birds, animals and insects in the soundtrack. All of the voices are performed live, making this a rich and compelling piece of theater for young audiences. This show is a firm 46.32 minutes, and the performers are happy to answer questions at the close of the show.
“The puppetry is truly mind-boggling. It includes shadow, rod, doll, and others, ranging in height from one foot to many feet in scale.”
