Four one-acts with a traveling sideshow theme: The Strange Case of Grippo the Apeman concerns two fly-by-night hoodlums who exhibit a monstrous idiot-savant who possesses a genius for music and impersonation; Universal Rundle, the story of a voodoo priest and bluesman anxiously awaiting the usurper who will overthrow him; The Ballad of Jasper Jaxon, based on a true story of the world’s worst bank robber; and Strega Nona, in which “the Grandma Witch” reads the fortunes of audience members from her magical pot of spaghetti.
