That Beast of Festive Skin

“That Beast of Festive Skin” is a solo show by Alexandra Tatarsky giving voice to those resilient creatures who perform at the flourishing open mic scene in the fiery pits of Hell. Uplifting torment abounds in a piece that turns extravagant failures into tales of strength and silliness.
Alexandra Tatarsky is a translator and performer from New York City. She has lectured on the strange psalms of Russian poet Genrikh Sapgir and adapted the absurdist vignettes of Daniil Kharms for the stage. Her solo work is inspired by ventriloquism, sacred tongues and the Puerto Rican Day Parade. She is a member of The Mauricios, an ongoing dance project devoted to silence and very small movements, and has worked in vaudevilles from Oregon to Eastern Europe. A collection of her poems for abandoned lots, entitled Vacant Love, is forthcoming from Power Plant Press.
