De Farrucas, Amor y Locura
September 28 – October 7, 2012
Artistic direction and choreography by Maria Elena Anaya
Scene direction and dramaturgy by Antonio Cerezo
Producer for Maria Elena Anaya’s Company by Nora Jacobs
This extraordinary new show merges the virtuosic performance of Mexican Flamenco dancer Maria Elena Anaya with poetry, music, and theater, to create a unique performance piece.
This La MaMa premiere gives a glimpse into the story and life of Mexican poet Guadalupe Amor, contemporary and friend of Diego Rivera and Maria Felix, who was known as Pita Amor, The 11th Muse. Her poetry is notable for its direct expressions about metaphysical issues. Joining Anaya on stage is Mexican actress Leticia Pedrajo.
