BronxBerlinConnection 2012 Closing Night Jam
Gemeinschaft in German means community; and since 2008 that is definitely what the BronxBerlinConnection Hip Hop exchange program has worked to foster between young people in NYC and Berlin. Come out to celebrate the end of the BronxBerlinConnection’s latest cultural exchange trip!
Culminating a 9-day NYC Hip Hop immersion program, young people from both Berlin, Germany and New York City will celebrate the only way they know how…through Hip Hop! The night will include live musical and dance performances, as well as a live-painting exhibition!
This one’s gonna be all-elemental y’all!!
More about the BronxBerlinConnection:
A partnership between the Hip Hop Re:Education Project (www.reeducate.org) and GangwayBeatz Berlin, the BronxBerlinConnnection engages young people from New York City and Berlin, Germany in a year-round cross cultural exchange program that uses hip hop to explore and express the unique experiences of urban youth around the world, the critical challenges they face and the solutions necessary to enact change in their communities. Using the same beats, common lyrical themes and different languages on two separate continents this program works to not only produce multi-lingual, cross-cultural poems, songs and albums, but more importantly it seeks to engage today’s youth in a continual process of cultural exchange, raising forth critical dialogue and fostering mutual understanding. Thus far the The BronxBerlinConnection has developed 3 full-length records, facilitated 5 international cultural exchange trips and filmed and released dozens of music videos and documentaries.
