***Sat. Feb. 1: Post-show discussion with the theatre company (moderator: Teresa Fiore, Montclair State University
Rumore di acque (Noise in the Waters) is a dark, intense melologue (short work for voice and music) written by Marco Martinelli on the tragedy of migrants in the Mediterranean, based on true stories performed by actor Alessandro Renda and multi-instrumentalists Enzo and Lorenzo Mancuso.
Rumore di acque (Noise in the Waters) protests the indifference of Fortress Europe to the everyday tragedy of refugees from Africa, who have perished for years in the Strait of Sicily on fruitless sea voyages to escape massacres and starvation in their homelands.
“The show leaves us astonished, indignant and not only: it digs beneath indifference, carving out faces, stories and sufferings that continue to live within us for days and days.”
– Massimo Marino, Corriere della Sera

“39 Defaults is a must-see: smart, brilliant, and reticent.”
-Franco Baldasso, Nueva York 2012
A Spanish political activist arrives in New York and meets Liz, who invites him to her apartment. Ricard has defrauded 39 banks in Spain. He claims this is not a crime, but a general call for financial disobedience. 39 Defaults explores trust in an era when hospitality meets surveillance, and idealism confronts daily necessities.
Fifth Wall is a theater company founded with the goal of global collaboration, performing in different languages and styles in order to foster a new relationship with our audience. The fifth wall invokes the audience not only as spectator, but as the integral creative element within the work, and therefore essential to the creative process.
