POSTPONED: The Waitress & The Robber

In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, all public events and performances of shows at La MaMa are suspended as of Friday, March 13, 2020 until further notice. Ticket buyers will be contacted as soon as possible with more information.

La MaMa is exploring ways to respond creatively to a situation that is potentially changing how we gather as a community in our theatres. La MaMa is working with CultureHub to provide online streaming of  select productions and events on Howlround Theatre Commons.

This is an incredibly challenging time for all of us, including arts organizations and the artists and employees who are now impacted by this suspension.  If you are able, please consider making a donation and showing your support.  Thank you.

Presented by La MaMa in association with Concrete Temple Theatre and Playfactory Mabangzen
a new play by Renee Philippi

Set in a dystopian society, The Waitress & The Robber explores themes of technological isolation and aging with humor and frivolity, while telling the story of a particular Waitress and Robber. The Waitress hates to see her older customers lonely, so she begins kidnapping them. Meanwhile, the Second Son, to avenge himself and liberate the people, becomes a robber and begins stealing cellular devices.

Special thanks to Yellowbomb and the Korean Cultural Center for supporting THE WAITRESS AND THE ROBBER.
