Wonderland Performance Line Up

An Excerpt from Sova Theater’s performance Branches

Branches is a nonverbal conversation between three artists from various disciplines, displaying imagery of the seasons, life cycles and the movement of our solar system. The moon connects all people from all languages and regions of the world, rural and urban. Every person experiences the image and affect of the moon throughout our lives as the magnificent sight lights up our landscape when in full form reflecting the beauty of our sun.

An Excerpt from Doppelskope’s performance Growl!

Growl! is a rollicking fairytale romp that turns the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears on its furry little ear! Doppelskope’s uniquely interactive theatrical adventure combines puppetry, music, and physical comedy — and invites the audience into a world of zany, fantastical fun. Brought to you by Porridge!

An Excerpt from Maiko Kikuchi’s performance No Need For A Night Light On A Light Night Like Tonight

Based on familiar tongue twisters, No Need For A Night Light is an experiment between text and design. Aimless idioms are tucked in and repurposed, only to be reborn as strange dreams. Although the piece employs sophisticated shadow puppets, curious animation, and elaborate headpieces, its genre remains the ordinary condition of aimlessness.

An Excerpt from East Village Dance’s performance The Shell Shocked Nut

The Shell-Shocked Nut upends the classic structure of E.T. Hoffman’s Nutcracker, relocates it in the East Village, and uses a cast of lively characters to explore themes of loss and recovery. A war veteran and a wandering child take us on a journey through the iconic and the everyday of the East Village – stopping at Tompkins Square Park, Economy Candy Store, the aisles of a corner bodega, the interior of a East Village home, and much more, under the Artistic Direction of Martha Tornay.
