Puppet artist Tom Lee presents a whimsical adventure of his alter ego (Beard Papa) and a wise but mischievous hen.  Children and adults will enjoy this mix of puppetry, movement and a chance to see a piece of Chicago's urban farm landscape.

About the Artists

Tom Lee is a designer, director and puppet artist.  He appeared on Broadway in War Horse, at the Metropolitan Opera in Madama Butterfly and most recently in The Queen of Spades at Lyric Opera Chicago.  His own work includes Shank's Mare (recently on tour in Paris), Tomte (Gnome) presented by La MaMa kids last fall, and place(no)place at the Pesta Boneka Festival in Indonesia.  Tom is co-director of Chicago Puppet Studio and teaches nationally and internationally. La MaMa Kids Online presents weekly kids performances and hands-on workshops online, timed especially for “after school” viewing! La MaMa will continue to use emerging technologies to create a new venue for artistic expression that questions how art can function and how we as a society can survive challenging periods of history.
Fun for the whole family! STORYTELLING, MUSIC-MAKING, PUPPET CRAFT, MASK-MAKING, AND MORE! La MaMa Kids is a series of creative workshops and performances for the young and the young at heart. Master artists from LaMaMa teach theatre crafts in workshops that encourage imaginative play and hands-on learning. Children and adults learn the basics of storytelling, dance, mask and puppet-making, and more! Held monthly, La MaMa Kids is fun for the whole family!
