Mulan is the classic story of a Chinese peasant girl who disguises herself as a man so that she can take her ailing father’s place as a soldier in the emperor’s war against the Huns. After years of successfully concealing her true identity, Mulan’s secret is ultimately revealed and she is worshipped for her courage and loyalty. This legendary story’s message of bravery, leadership and the importance of family remains relevant to audiences today.

In 2013, Mulan had 33 successful performances in Peter Jay Sharp Theater. We have redoubled our efforts and, after a year of preparation, Mulan has been brought back to life! For the second time in New York, the timeless Chinese folk tale of Mulan is coming to the stage courtesy of the Red Poppy Ladies’ Percussion.
