UnterWasser is a research group, founded in 2014 by Valeria Bianchi, Aurora Buzzetti and Giulia De Canio, that investigates the mutual contaminations between puppet theatre and the visual arts.
The company undertakes work on two parallel tracks: performance on the one hand, and exhibition/installation on the other.
UnterWasser's theatre is a mobile installation to be enjoyed as the scenes evolve, in the fluidity of their flow. The material is transformed in front of the viewer and the perspectives change according to the principle of film montage. The protagonists are the artistic object, the image, the sculpture, the moving matter. The performer is at the service of the object and becomes its animator.
UnterWasser's installations have a theatrical dramaturgy, a narrative movement that makes them dynamic and evocative.
The images are drawn from the world of the oneiric, a well from which to draw suggestions of the inner universe, with aesthetic references inspired by figurative art.
UnterWasser's first work, OUT (2015) received the following awards: EOLO AWARD 2016, Finalist of SCENARIO INFANZIA AWARD 2014.

Beneath the water is the seabed, with its hidden beauties that create wonder.
We work to share the experience of enchantment through the pursuit of a refined aesthetic, the result of careful study of materials and techniques.
Underwater is also dark, deep, dense.
Deep are the themes that ask to be plumbed and brought to light.
Underwater, voice has no language, words become sound and meanings are grasped with the eyes.
We seek a visual, universal, silent theatre.
Underwater is the oneiric, the world of symbol, myth, utopia.
To draw on it, one must shatter the mirror of the surface and immerse oneself.
