To the left of the pantry and below the sugar shack is a Memory Palace. It’s a little bit cosmos and a little bit party, carefully designed and built so you can crawl into it at your leisure. Its rooms are the loci of fantastical images, contributed by a range of artists exploring the magic and meaning of memory. Fill your own palace with images until ours dissolves with yours.
harunalee has built their very own Memory Palace, which is a little bit cosmos and a little bit party, carefully designed and built so you can crawl into it at your leisure. Its familiar yet illusory rooms are the loci of fantastical images, contributed by a range of invited artists, working in various mediums exploring the magic and meaning of memory. Inspired by Francis Yates’ seminal text on the occult nature of memory systems during the Renaissance aptly titled The Art of Memory, we invite you into a mind ancient in design, but contemporary in its contemplations.
Each night, a cluster of eclectic downtown artists working in various mediums- from poetry, music, dance, magic, neuroscience, drag & more- will share a brand new piece of work inspired by original memories that have been submitted by YOU: our audience and artistic community!

“So full of impulses and ideas and splendid, fractious energy”
-New York Times
“harunalee explores the terrifying unknown with a gaudy richness that left me swimming in images and then drowning in personal reflection.”
– Culturebot
“By juxtaposing and ultimately marrying the mythic and the mundane, [harunalee] creates something completely new—and distinctly feminine.”
