Our dynamic Movement Workshop is the ultimate playground for kids and grown-ups alike, where the joy of movement and the thrill of discovery collide.

Let your little ones embark on a magical journey as they explore various styles of movement, led by our passionate and experienced instructors. This workshop is designed to be a truly inclusive experience for the whole family. Join hands and hearts as parents, siblings, and guardians embark on this fun-filled movement adventure. Explore the powerful connection between movement and emotion as you let your bodies sway to the rhythm of creative exploration.

Our Movement Workshop for Kids and Families is a chance for you to bond, express, and explore the limitless possibilities of movement, all while creating lifelong memories. This workshop will culminate with a short 10 minute live performance as part of a pre show presentation in the Ellen Stewart Theatre on Sunday at 2PM.

Ashley Chen has trained at the CNSMD in Paris. After one project with Thomas Duchâtelet, he joins the Merce Cunningham Dance Company in New York in 2000. He moves back Europe, after four years to integrate the Lyon Opera Ballet where he performs works by William Forsyth, Trisha Brown, Philippe Decouflé, Christian Rizzo, Mathilde Monnier, Russel Maliphant and Ohad Naharin. In 2006, AshleyChen decides to become a free-lance dancer and works with different choreographers throughout Europe, such as John Scott and Liz Roche in Ireland, Michael Clark in the U.K., Michele Ann de Mey and Jean-Luc Ducourt in Belgium, Philipe Decouflé and Boris Charmatz in France (still currant), he also works with Robert Swinston as performer and assistant on works by Cunningham. In 2012, he founded the Compagnie Kashyl, he has since then created five pieces.


La MaMa Kids 2023–2024 is supported in part by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council and the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature. The performances by Compagnie Kashyl are part of Albertine Dance Season and received support from Villa Albertine.

La MaMa Kids Online presents kids performances and hands-on workshops online, timed especially for “after school” viewing! La MaMa will continue to use emerging technologies to create a new venue for artistic expression that questions how art can function and how we as a society can survive challenging periods of history.
