Join us for an interactive movement and shadow puppet manipulation workshop based on Loco7’s The Adventures of Seucy and Boto Series.
This workshop will be in conjunction with the book launch of The Adventures of Seucy and Boto, Book 1
The book follows Seucy, whom along with the help of her friends, protects the plants and inhabitants of the rain forest from harm and inspires us to respect and care for the mighty jungle so it will continue sharing its wonders with us.Federico Restrepo was born in Colombia and founded his company, Loco7 Dance Puppet Theatre, at La MaMa in 1986 to expand the use of puppetry in dance theatre.
Federico Restrepo is an accomplished director and designer who started his carrier at a very young age, studying mime and ballet in his native country Colombia. He came to New York in 1986 and founded his company, Loco7 Dance Puppet Theatre, at La MaMa.
Utilizing rhythmic music, dancers, body puppets and larger then life marionettes, Restrepo weaves a choreography which extends beyond the body of the dancer. Dealing with themes such as South American Culture & History, the immigrants’ experience and urban life, Restrepo creates an animated movement, in an ever-changing and surreal environment, bringing the stage to life.
