The La MaMa Archive Presents: Digitized Half Inch Open Reel Video of 1970s Performances

Join the La MaMa Archive at Pratt Institute for a screening and discussion of excerpts from La MaMa performances from the 1970s, now viewable after a 2-year long digitization project funded by the National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC). Archive Director Ozzie Rodriguez, Project Manager Sophie Glidden-Lyon, and Archive Intern Kate Philipson will speak about the significance of these performances in theater history, as well as the importance of digitizing this endangered magnetic media.

Established in the early 1970’s, La MaMa Archives collects, preserves, and exhibits records of permanent historical value relating to La MaMa and the Off-Off Broadway movement. In doing so, it draws on a deep vein of in-house institutional memory, the passionate community of artists whose work has found a home on La MaMa stages, and a diversity of scholars, educators and international artists with whom we regularly collaborate.
