First enacted at Washington Square Methodist Church in February 1967 as part of the week-long cumulative protest against American involvement in Vietnam called Angry Arts Week, A Vietnamese Wedding then opened at La MaMa in 1969. Ms. Fornes has won nine Obies for either playwriting or direction.
