Rockefeller and I Part 1 is a solo performance in which John Maria Gutierrez, son of a low income, sometimes no-income, Dominican immigrant family confronts his life experience with another John, John D. Rockefeller Jr. and his 10 personal Commandments, how to live your life.
Rockefeller and I will be the second time Uwe Mengel creates a performance specifically designed for the sidewalk in front of La MaMa. In May 2019, he created on the sidewalk the participatory performance Everyday Murder.
