A witty, high-energy vaudeville act with a seven-foot-tall doll as its stage. Will an obsessive need for safety and a fear of “the other” break us? Secrets History Remembers is a visual feast that examines our culture of fear with humor, insight and inventive puppetry.

EVOLVE PUPPETS (TANYA KHORDOC& BARRY WEIL) have been creating innovative puppet theatre in NYC for more than two decades. This past year, Evolve presented a developmental version of their fourth full-length play THEY WERE CALLED TREES as part of La MaMa Jump Start. They are the puppet designers for UTC61’s opera/play EXAGOGE, which will premiere at La MaMa in Spring 2024. Their previous play HOME was performed at The Tank NYC in 2019. Tanya & Barry created puppets for Bated Breath Theatre Company’s CHASING ANDY WARHOL, including the ten-foot-tall “Giant Andy” (who accompanied Grand Marshall Laurie Anderson in the 2023 Greenwich Village Halloween Parade). Their puppet film LIGHT AS PAPER was an Official Selection of the Vienna International Film Awards, Canada’s Festival of Animated Objects and the Coney Island Film Festival. Evolve created the world premiere production of Vàclav Havel’s play MOTORMORPHOSIS for UTC61’s Havel Festival and served as puppetry designers for Theater East’s DEVIL AND THE DEEP, a musical co-written by Graham Russell of Air Supply. Evolve has also performed many original works at venues that include La MaMa, St. Ann’s Warehouse, Dixon Place, HERE Arts Center, and two Puppeteers of America National Festivals.
