Miss dalloway, an adaptation of Virginia Woolf’s 1925 novel Mrs Dalloway, shifts the setting away from upper-crust 1923 London to Harlem in 1930, amidst the ailing Renaissance and the looming Great Depression.
The change in setting and the reimagining of the characters it necessitates brings to the fore the minute ways in which we struggle with wanting better while knowing that, sometimes, better is simply out of reach.

I am Yves allen, a New York City based playwright from Wilmington, Delaware. My writing specifically focuses on exploring societal wounds through humor and specificity, inviting audiences to actively live within conversations and imagine futures that are better than our own, no matter how impossible it may feel. By genuinely connecting with people through my characters and their words, I hope to cultivate a practice that invites unity and criticism to move as one. I believe that highlighting the absurdity of humanity so that we may begin to mend it is the beauty of storytelling; I have been bound by its allure ever since.
