Experiments Play Reading Series

For more than two decades, the Experiments Play Reading Series has provided a forum for playwrights and theatremakers to continue their creative process. These Monday night readings give artists the opportunity to hear new works read aloud and receive valuable audience feedback. Experiments is an artist-driven service organized around shifting themes to engage a diverse range of theatremakers, audiences, and programming.

EXPERIMENTS 27: RE-PLAY

The 27th Season of La MaMa’s Experiments is dedicated to the prefix “re,” meaning again, back, anew. This season features plays that reinvent, rediscover, research, and reclaim. Radical adaptations. Hot takes on cold conversations. Stories of transformation. Ships of Theseus. Re-Play celebrates artists engaged in processes of regeneration.

Submissions for our Fall 2026 series are due by July 31, 2026.*

Email new play submissions to experiments@lamama.org for consideration. Please submit scripts in PDF format.

* We are only interested in plays in development that have never been read for a New York audience.
