A workshop led by Daniel Mattar

Daniel Mattar proposes a dynamic training based on rhythm, attention, and organic impulse.

The Tale of the Western Exile
A solo performance by Daniel Mattar
followed by a conversation with Richard Schechner
A man tells the story of his exile—and relives it.
Inspired by the writings of Sohrawardi, the performance weaves storytelling with traditional
songs from the Middle East – drawing from Arabic, Sufi, Syriac, and psalm traditions.
Between narration and song, the piece becomes a living act of remembrance – personal and
universal.
