Sparring Artists Poetry Party to celebrate and share the newly released and politically charged Art & Literary Anthology of Sparring with Beatnik Ghosts Annual #2! Creative Writing and Visual Art addressing the shifting sands of reality including the past present and future; published by the Mystic Boxing Commission, featuring work from all over the country- but these NYC poet contributors are here LIVE at this special book party event with LIVE readings, projections, and pleasures mingling with the artists. Books will be available for purchase.

CREDITS

Peter Carlaftes is a publisher, poet, playwright, author, actor, co-director of Three Rooms Press and author of poetry collections Drunkyard Dog, I Fold With the Hand I Was Dealt, and Life in the Past Lane. He lives in New York City.

Thomas Fucaloro has been on six national slam teams. He holds an MFA in creative writing from the New School and is a co-founding editor of Great Weather for Media and NYSAI press.The winner of numerous grants from the Staten Island Council of the Arts, the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, NYC Office for the Prevention of Hate Crimes and NYC Commission of Human Rights to name a few. He is an adjunct professor at Wagner College, BMCC and CSI where he teaches various poetry and literature courses.

Kat Georges is a poet, publisher, and graphic designer, co-director of Three Rooms Press and author of poetry collections Our Lady of the Hunger and Awe and Other Words Like Wow. She lives in New York City.

Matthew Hupert is a writer and multi-media artist. He is the founder of the NeuroNautic Institute and of NeuroNautic Press. He has 2 full length collections, Ism is a Retrovirus (Three Rooms Press) and Secular Pantheism ( NeuroNautic Press). His writing has appeared in numerous journals and anthologies. Matthew hosts several poetry reading series, including the annual showcase for New York voices Night in the Naked City, and the monthly series NeuroNautic Institute Presents, which features writers from around the world, and a vibrant open mic. He is a recipient of the 2020 New York Acker Award for Show Organizer and Host.

Called “another classic NJ bard” by the late Allen Ginsberg, Eliot Katz is the author of seven books of poetry, and a prose book, The Poetry and Politics of Allen Ginsberg. He was a co-founder, with Danny Shot, of the long-running Long Shot literary magazine, and was a co-editor with Allen Ginsberg and Andy Clausen of Poems for the Nation. A book of his selected poems, Liberation Recalled, is currently being translated into Italian for a 2026 publication in Rome. Katz has worked for many years as an activist for a wide range of peace and social-justice causes. He currently lives in Hoboken, and his website is at www.eliotkatzpoetry.com.

Jane LeCroy serves the Poetry Gods as a featured character in the Poetry Brothel NYC. She is a teaching-artist bringing love of poetry to students and publishing their work through various programs like Uptown Stories. She sets her poetry to music in her bands: Ω▽(Ohmslice), the experimental modular synth project, and The Icebergs, an avant-pop band of cello and drums. Her records are streaming everywhere. Three Rooms Press published her multimedia book of lyrical poems, Signature Play. Puma Perl is a poet, writer, and performer and the author of two chapbooks, and three full-length poetry collections, knuckle tattoos, Retrograde (great weather for MEDIA), and Birthdays Before and After (Beyond Baroque Books.) She is the front woman and primary lyricist in The Puma Perl Band, brings spoken word together with rock and roll. She’s received five awards from the New York Press Association in recognition of her journalism and was the recipient of the 2016 Acker Award in the category of writing. With musician Joe Sztabnik, she recently released a record album, Under Tenement Skies, available in vinyl, CD and digital download.

Nicca Ray’s forthcoming memoir, Love and Cigarettes, will be published by Punk Hostage Press in the fall, 2025. Her play, Cry of the Butterfly, will be performed at the Theater for the New City in February 2026. She is the author of the memoir, Ray by Ray: A Daughter’s Take on the Legend of Nicholas Ray (Three Rooms Press) and the poetry collections, Go-Go-Go Girl (Poison Fang Books), Curve (Gutter Snob Books), and Back Seat Baby (Poison Fang Books). She’s an Acker Award recipient for memoir and a Pushcart Prize nominee.

Danny Shot’s complete story “Death of a Poet” can be found in his prose collection Night Bird Flying which was recently published (2/25) by Roadside Press. Danny’s WORKS was published in 2018 and his new book of poetry The Jersey Slide will make its debut in the fall of 2025 also from CavanKerry Press. He was longtime publisher and editor of Long Shot arts and literary magazine, which he founded along with Eliot Katz in 1982 in New Brunswick, NJ. Danny is a proud New Generation Beat Poet Laureate (2024 – Lifetime).

Los Angeles poet Dig Wayne teaches Method Acting at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in West Hollywood. Originally from Ohio, Dig has lived, worked, and practiced his art in New York City and London. He has published two books of poetry, Hip Pockets and Bongo Skin. His recent collection, One Fell Swoop was published by innateDIVINITYbooks. Dig feels there is no place he can be that is not worth exploring. Thoughts. Fragments of thoughts. Sounds. The Poetry Electric fuses music, movement, sound, and dance with the spoken word and presents artists working in a wide range of styles including beatboxing, jazz and hip-hop theatre. This series has presented over 200 emerging poets from diverse cultural backgrounds.
