A Summer Gathering ahead of the November Midterm Push Care Cafe | August 18

We have all been on edge a lot lately and now – less than three months away from the midterms – we are at the precipice of what might just possibly be some real change for good. So maybe it’s time

to take a deep breath, gather, and gather forces.

With that in mind, Lois Weaver and Peggy Shaw hosted A Gathering at the Catskill Art Space in Livingston Manor NY at the end of July.

It brought together upstate neighbors, downstate friends, and interested passersby for an afternoon of good conversation

interspersed with brief performances.

For our August 18 Care Café, we are bringing this new format and some of the performances to La Mama 74 East 4th Street from 5-7pm.

As usual we will keep the form of a Care Café- a conversational format whose focus is to gather around cafe tables and chat with those we know or might come to know in an atmosphere of care. 

All we have to do is turn up as we are and consider how we can maintain an attitude of care in an uncaring world.

Usually there’s no specific agenda, discussion topic, or expectation.

However, this month we will be sharing ideas on how to approach the midterm elections – coming up in less than 90 days!

Talk will still be the main thing on the menu but there will be some simple hands-on election related activities on the table and some performance interventions throughout the evening to keep the conversation flowing.
