A puppetry/music collaboration between acclaimed puppeteer and La MaMa resident artist Tom Lee and musicians Lisa Kaplan and Matthew Duvall of the Grammy-award winning sextet Eighth Blackbird.
The piece explores humanity’s place in our vast universe, showcasing the virtuosity of Eighth Blackbird’s music against the vital, human power of puppetry. Mirrored Pool takes special inspiration from astronomer Carl Sagan, whose work on the Voyager spacecrafts and the Golden Record are now the most distant human-made objects and sounds from our planet — currently 15.7 billion miles away from Earth.
