La MaMa Puppet Festival 2026
Puppetry has been an integral part of La MaMa’s programming since 1962. By setting objects in motion, puppet artists can penetrate linguistic and cultural barriers to tell stories that are accessible to audiences around the world. Bringing international puppet artists together leads to innovation, experimentation, and increased awareness of puppetry as a sophisticated art form. Since 2004, La MaMa has hosted annual festivals showcasing new contemporary puppet theatre. This year will feature the work of Monica Lerch, Tiresias, Fatima Sambo Schoenfelder, Gaby Febland & Sammy Zeisel, Amanda Glynn Card, Loco7 (Denise Greber & Federico Restrepo), Tom Lee, Matthew Duvall, Lisa Kaplan, William PK Carter, Marcella Murray, Deniz Khateri, and Michelle Beshaw.
